Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Boise, Idaho, is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to invent, analyze and design complex analog and digital systems for highly specialized applications. You will lead multi-disciplinary projects, manage hardware design reviews and mentor other engineers in a fast-paced, employee-owned environment.

The position requires a B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years of related experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. and/or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6+ years of related or management experience.
• Strong technical knowledge in one or more engineering disciplines/technologies.
• Ability to design, produce and support successful products/processes.
• The ability to manage product line/process problems requiring creativity, ingenuity, and guidance from manager.
• Excellent leadership and mentorship skills and a strong desire to develop employees and lead projects.
• The ability to define general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• The ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• The ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Invent, analyze and design complex analog and digital systems to meet specifications.
• Lead large projects of high technical complexity and participate in executive project reviews.
• Lead hardware design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness.
• Develop hardware and system-level specifications for highly complex applications.
• Write and review complex test plans and supervise testing for peer reviews and notebooks.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to other engineers and technicians.
• Participate in industry technical meetings, seminars and conferences.
