Job summary

HENSOLDT UK seeks an Electronics Design Engineer in Enfield to design high-speed digital and analogue sections, with PCB layout and signal integrity considerations. You will work with FPGAs (VHDL/Embedded C), MATLAB, and scripting to configure and test complex designs.

The role involves hardware test, obsolescence awareness via Silicon Expert, and collaboration across Engineering and Manufacturing through the product lifecycle. UK travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design high speed digital designs and simulate the analogue sections.
• Knowledge of multilayer PCB design, layout and signal integrity
• Work with FPGAs using VHDL/Embedded C to bridge firmware/hardware
• Programming experience in MATLAB
• Create scripts to configure and test designs with high software content
• Interface with RF related design and hardware
• Hardware test and verification of new assemblies
• Use Silicon Expert to pre-empt obsolescence and long lead items
• Product support and troubleshooting of existing assemblies
• Act as interface between Engineering and manufacturing for hardware test solutions
• Involve in product development lifecycle from design to report writing
• Translate system requirements into board-level designs with robust verification
• Own task breakdown and risk identification
• Participate in Design Reviews and use Configuration Control

Job Functions

• Design high speed digital designs and simulate the analogue sections. Knowledge of Orcad and Altium schematic entry and layout would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of multilayer PCB design, layout and signal integrity
• Working experience of FPGAs using VHDL/Embedded C to bridge firmware/hardware design would be distinct advantageous
• Programming experience in MATLAB
• Experience using scripts to configure and test designs with a high Software content
• Experience interfacing and configuring RF and associated design would be advantageous
• Hardware Test and verification of new electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Use of Silicon Expert to pre-empt obsolescence and / or long lead item issues.
• Product support and troubleshooting of existing electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Acting as an interface between Engineering and manufacturing with respect to Introduction of hardware test solutions.
• Involvement in a product through its development lifecycle, including initial design, development, test, and report writing.
• Translates system requirement specifications into board-level designs; ensures robust verification, including writing of test specifications and circuit descriptions.
• Owns technical task breakdown and identification of key risks
• Participation in Design Reviews and appropriate use of Configuration Control.
• Travel within the UK may be required and is considered an occasional feature of this role. Requests could be made at short notice.
