Job summary

SAIC seeks an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command, in sustaining ground-based radars critical to missile surveillance and defense missions. The role is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, performing ongoing maintenance and system modernization to ensure readiness.

You will generate engineering drawings, calibrate hardware, and coordinate with engineers to sustain subsystems. A Secret clearance and 5+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

SAIC seeks an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command, in performing operational maintenance and sustainment of ground-based radars critical to US and Allied strategic missile surveillance, warning, defense, and space surveillance missions. In support of the government customer, the SAIC Program Manager, and the Chief Engineer. This position is in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Job Duties:

• Provide site and lab maintenance support and troubleshooting to resolve complex issues, interact, and coordinate with engineers responsible for sustaining sub-systems.
• Perform on site Emergency Depot Level Maintenance/Urgent Depot Level Maintenance (EDLM/UDLM) to resolve critical system issues affecting mission operations.
• Generate engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, including rack assembly drawings, interconnect wiring diagrams and custom cable assemblies.
• Perform maintenance on Line Reparable Units (LRUs) in a lab environment in accordance with established processes and in compliance with technical specifications.
• Ability to support system integration, test, development, and execution of various types of complex communications systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelors and five plus (5+) years’ experience or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
• Active Secret Clearance
• Experience sustainingcomplex military electronic systems that require continuous sustainment, lifecycle management, and upgrades.
• Ability to document, report, and analyze outcomes of maintenance and engineering activities to support long-term sustainment.
• Demonstrated experience sustainingcomplex radar, hardware, or electronic systemsrequiring lifecycle management, maintenance, integration, and modernization.
• Strong hands‑on experience withhardware testing, calibration, troubleshooting, debugging, and repairfor sophisticated systems and components.

Desired:

• Experience sustaining GBRs, or other Strategic Warning and Surveillance radar systems such as PAVE PAWS and UEWR.
• Knowledge of the Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment mission and associated enterprise.
• Knowledge of VICD, part assemblies, rack elevations, shake and vibe

Due to system limitations, actual salary range is $120-130K

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
