Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in an Agile environment to design next-generation industrial automation products.
  • Contribute to hardware architecture, circuit design, prototype development, integration, and verification.
  • Design, analyze, program, test, and troubleshoot electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Develop and review schematics, circuit designs, engineering documentation, and hardware test reports.
  • Analyze hardware failures and perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead technical initiatives involving new technologies and design methodologies.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement hardware test automation and design simulation.
  • Utilize lab equipment to evaluate hardware performance and diagnose issues.
  • Support hardware verification and validation throughout product development.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, software, manufacturing, quality to resolve product-level issues.
  • Research emerging technologies for industrial automation applications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and design practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the organization.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Hardware Development Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team responsible for developing advanced industrial automation and control systems. In this role, you will contribute across the hardware product development lifecycle, including circuit design, hardware integration, prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, simulation, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, collaborating across disciplines, and continuously expanding their knowledge of emerging hardware technologies. You will work closely with electrical, firmware, software, systems, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust and reliable products.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical initiatives, influence hardware design decisions, mentor engineers, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

You will:
  • Collaborate within an Agile engineering environment to design and develop next-generation industrial automation and control products.

  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to implement hardware test automation and design simulation.
  • Utilize laboratory test equipment to evaluate hardware performance and diagnose design issues.
  • Support hardware verification and validation activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, software, manufacturing, quality, and other technical teams to resolve product-level issues.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application to industrial automation products.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, methodologies, and design practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the engineering organization.
  • Develop strong working relationships across functional teams and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.
Must Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware engineering or cross-functional product development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, testing, troubleshooting, or integrating electronic hardware.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex hardware issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with electronic design capture tools and the ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics.
  • Strong understanding of circuit theory and electronic circuit operation, including: Microprocessors and microcontrollers, Digital logic, Analog circuits, DC power conversion, Programmable logic devices, CPLDs and FPGAs
  • Hands-on experience using electronic laboratory and hardware debugging equipment, including: Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers, Hardware debuggers, Power supplies and other electronic test equipment
  • Experience with hardware verification, validation, and characterization.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and automation technologies.
  • Understanding of functional safety principles and safety-critical hardware design.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 or comparable functional safety standards.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI requirements and IEC 61000 standards.
  • Experience working within a Scaled Agile / Agile development environment.
  • Experience with hardware simulation, modeling, or automated test development.
  • Experience performing root-cause analysis, failure investigation, and design troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, and accountability for engineering deliverables.
  • Growth mindset with an interest in learning new technologies and expanding technical responsibilities.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
