Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC seeks a Senior Hardware Design Engineer in Huntsville, AL to lead design and bring-up of rugged embedded hardware platforms. You will work with Intel/ARM processors, FPGAs, and high-speed interfaces to deliver reliable systems for defense, aerospace and industrial applications.

You will own verification plans, collaborate across engineering teams, and influence product architecture and best practices. Strong PCB design and signal integrity focus required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, embedded hardware design, or electronic product development.
• Strong understanding of PC architecture, processor-based embedded systems, and hardware interconnects.
• Demonstrated PCB design capability: schematic capture, component selection, PCB placement & routing.
• Strong understanding of high-speed PCB design: differential signaling, transmission-line loss, crosstalk.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, root-cause debug, verification/validation.
• Ability to develop test and verification plans and validate hardware against requirements.
• Self-starting, independent problem solver who can work across the full lifecycle.
• Willingness to contribute across requirements, concept, design, bring-up, validation, production, and sustainment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug and support advanced embedded hardware systems.
• Create digital hardware using Intel/ARM processors, DDR4/DDR5, FPGAs, MPSoCs, RFSoCs.
• Develop high-speed interfaces: DDR4/DDR5, PCIe, multi-Gigabit Ethernet.
• Own complex hardware programs from architecture to production release.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, software, systems, and product teams.
