Job summary

Refocus LLC is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer for a contract to full-time role in New York. The candidate will lead hands-on PCB hardware design, participate in schematic reviews, and drive hardware validation for high-speed interfaces and mixed-signal systems.

Responsibilities include developing hardware with component selection, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and test systems, and integrating hardware with firmware while addressing reliability and design verification concerns.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of hardware design experience.
• Analog, Digital & Mixed-Signal design.
• Experience with signal integrity techniques and layout constraints.
• High-Speed PCB Design (Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, CAN).
• PCB design, DFM, DFT, SI/PI analysis.

Responsibilities

• Hands on PCB hardware design, new product development activities.
• Perform schematic reviews, component selection, PCB design reviews, and hardware validation.
• Design and develop electrical/electronic hardware and subsystem characterization/test equipment.
• Develop new concepts, including component selection and block diagrams.
• Create and maintain wiring diagrams, schematics, 2D/3D models and BOMs.
• Design/build electronics and manual or semi-automated test systems.
• Integrate electrical hardware with software/firmware and troubleshoot complex subsystem-level issues.
• Modify and review existing designs and execute engineering changes.
• Support PCBA, assemblies, prototypes, jigs and test fixtures.
• Perform design verification/validation and participate in reliability activities, including RCA/8D, FMEA, failure analysis and design reviews.
