Job summary

F5 Networks seeks a senior hardware design leader to own system-level development for high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal platforms. You will define architectures, draft functional specs, and partner with architecture teams to ensure robust subsystem designs.

You will mentor engineers, guide verification strategy, and influence manufacturability, reliability, and integration across product lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design for high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal systems.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and hardware design tools (Cadence/Altium/Mentor).

Job description

  • Lead system-level hardware design for new products, including architecture definition, functional specifications, and requirements development
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to define system requirements and author functional specifications for hardware subsystems
  • Drive design for manufacturability, testability, and reliability across all development phases
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance existing products and guide new product directions
  • Oversee and mentor engineers, providing technical guidance and reviewing work
  • Conduct internal and external technical presentations and disseminate knowledge within the hardware team
  • Develop and maintain schedules for deliverables, ensuring timely documentation and testing
  • Interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners for validation and issue resolution
  • Author and implement CPLD designs using Verilog HDL when required
  • Support sustaining engineering for legacy products and assist in manufacturing training for new designs
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards
  • Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies
Requirements
  • Understand and comply with F5 internal processes and requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design for high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal systems
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and hardware design tools, including Cadence, Altium, or Mentor Graphicsli>
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal considerations
  • Proficiency with Verilog HDL programming for CPLD design
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills at board and system levels
  • Expertise in Intel x86 motherboard design
  • Expertise with high-speed interfaces, including DDR4/5, PCIe g5, and Ethernet 100G/400G/800G
  • Electrical design experience for Altera and Xilinx FPGAs
  • CPU VR power supply design expertise
  • Signal and power integrity expertise
  • System-level integration expertise
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
