Job summary

Cyient is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, test, and document safety-critical FPGA/CPLD hardware for aerospace and ground vehicle systems. You will work on FPGA/CPLD design through all phases, with emphasis on HDL-based implementations and DO-254 compliance.

Responsibilities include requirements generation, RTL synthesis, test bench development, and verification, plus system integration support and production-readiness activities.

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years circuit design experience with HDL-based FPGA/CPLD design.
  • Experience with timing analysis and power analysis tools.
  • Hands-on hardware build, test, and integration experience.
  • Knowledge of DO-254 hardware development objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Generate requirements, perform RTL-synthesis and test bench development.
  • Conduct design verification, timing and power analysis, and design reviews.
  • Support system integration, qualification testing, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and management to enhance applications.

Job Description

The Electrical Engineer designs, tests and documents safety-critical hardware.Responsible for developing and supporting FPGA/CPLD designs through all phases of design and system integration for high-reliability embedded aerospace and ground based vehicle systems applications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform activities such as requirements generation, design, RTL-synthesis, test bench development and design simulation, static timing and power analysis, and requirements based design verification.
  • Prototype evaluation, design-to-cost tradeoffs, design reviews, qualification test support, system integration support, production and obsolescence support tasks.
  • Maintain the desire to stay current in the continuously developing field and to expand knowledge base and skills in FPGA design and digital hardware engineering.
  • Works with hardware engineers and senior management to enhance existing applications and build additional applications
  • Designs and develops hardware systems
  • Tests and modifies hardware to ensure it meets specifications and requirements
  • Understands and utilizes internal processes and tools for the development of hardware
  • Decisions may have minor impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Contributes to engineering estimates on simple hardware designs
  • Improved depth of product domain knowledge
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5-10+ years' work experience or Master's Degree and 3+ years of work experience.
Required Skills and Education
  • 5-10+ years circuit design experience, with the demonstrated ability to design HDL-based FPGAs and CPLDs.
  • Knowledge of digital electronic devices and circuit design principles.Experience using design/analysis tools, such as Timing Designer and Hyperlynx a plus.
  • Hands-on hardware build, test, and integration experience.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, along with follow-up and monitoring skills.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink for auto-generation of FPGA code
  • Familiarity with FPGA integration into digital circuit card designs to ensure electrical integrity of FPGA design in embedded applications.
  • 5-10 years' work experience
  • Experience with VHDL, System Verilog designs and UVM test benches
  • Up to 25% Travel
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus:
  • Design experience with Microprocessor/Microcontroller interfaces such as I2C, SPI, CAN bus ARINC-825, memory interfaces such as SDRAM controllers, Flash, SRAM; serial interfaces (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS422, RS485, AFDX ARINC-664) and FPGA design using Microsemi, Xilinx, Lattice, Altera, etc.
  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-254 hardware development objectives
  • Design tools such as Synplify, ModelSim, Questasim
  • Experience with high-speed Digital circuit card design, including part placement and routing, constraint generation, and signal integrity analysis.
  • Experience with state machines, code coverage
  • Experience with Requirements Management tools (i.e. DOORS), Configuration Management, and Problem Reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of commercial certification objectives and activities.
  • Experience with development of formal validation and verification procedures.
  • Flight critical fly-by-wire Flight Controls, Actuators, Air Data Systems, Pilot Inceptors, Inertial Sensors and/or Autopilot systems.
