Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Product Design / Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design and integration of next-generation haptic actuators.

You will own end-to-end development from concept through production, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to meet performance and manufacturability goals. You will prototype, test, and refine designs using 3D CAD, FEA, and DOE-driven approaches, while communicating progress to management and ensuring schedules are met.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics.
• Proficient with mechanical or electromagnetic FEA tools.
• Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, material science, and basic chemistry.
• Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and define mechanical components and assembly schemes.
• Brainstorm concepts and solutions to haptic related challenges.
• Prototype, evaluate, and debug innovative ideas.
• Generate detailed specifications and drawings.
• Analyze static and dynamic structures using simulations and experiments.
• Collaborate with external vendors on manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Travel internationally (< 10%) as project needs.
• Conduct failure analysis and DOEs to resolve root causes.
