Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Hyde Park is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist III – Hand Therapist to lead evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for complex hand and upper-extremity conditions. The role includes designing and fabricating custom orthoses in collaboration with hand surgeons and the care team.

The therapist will drive performance improvement, contribute to program development, pursue clinical research, and mentor OT students as part of our academic mission.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved occupational therapy school.
• Minimum of 4 years of clinical OT experience.
• Advanced certification or degree beyond entry level.
• Demonstrated leadership in performance and quality improvement initiatives and program development and/or research.
• Completion of AOTA Fieldwork Educators Workshop.
• Requires current occupational therapy license in the State of Illinois (or eligibility to practice) and CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Conducts advanced evaluations and determines treatment plans.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to determine disposition.
• Develops and leads patient- and family-centered OT interventions.
• Performs advanced occupational therapy techniques and procedures.
• Ensures timely and accurate documentation of evaluations, progress notes, and procedures.
• Instructs patients and families in home exercise programs and education on prognosis and treatment plans.
• Leads PI processes to enhance service delivery and clinical care initiatives.
