Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specialized in Guidewire BillingCenter to join our Billing Technology team in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. You will architect, configure, and integrate BillingCenter with complex billing and payment workflows, contributing to a major modernization program migrating from mainframe systems.

You’ll lead technical efforts, mentor peers, and collaborate with business and IT partners to define specifications, implement solutions, and monitor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related STEM field or equivalent
• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• 5+ years with Guidewire BillingCenter (configuration and integration)
• Experience with commission configuration, invoice logic, and payment management
• Knowledge of Guidewire events and batch processing
• Experience as Technical Lead on complex billing/payments initiatives
• Experience with Agile environments and modern DevOps practices
• Experience with AWS and cloud-hosted applications/integrations
• Java and/or Gosu for Guidewire development
• Exposure to AI/ML in billing or financial operations
• Background with mainframe-based systems modernization

Responsibilities

• Perform complex analysis and design within Guidewire BillingCenter for high-impact initiatives
• Configure and support multiple BillingCenter functional areas
• Lead design and implementation of moderately complex billing and payments solutions
• Serve as Technical Lead on key initiatives and mentor team members
• Drive a large 2027 transformation program migrating from mainframe to Guidewire BillingCenter
• Investigate defects and deliver reliable solutions across business and technical teams
• Identify opportunities to leverage Guidewire, cloud technologies, and AI to improve billing processes
• Provide guidance on Guidewire and modern engineering practices while fostering Agile collaboration
• Stay updated on Guidewire events, batch processing, and integration patterns
• Assist with requirements clarification and validation in collaboration with stakeholders
