Job summary

Merchants Capital, a leading multifamily lender, seeks a Senior Closer, GSE to manage complex Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac transactions from onboarding to settlement. You will coordinate internal/external teams, ensure compliance, and drive successful outcomes with strong client service.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial real estate lending, robust knowledge of agency programs, and excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or Accounting.
• Minimum five years in commercial real estate lending or closings.
• Strong knowledge of agency multifamily programs (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac).
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of multifamily loan transactions from onboarding through funding and final settlement/purchase, ensuring compliance.
• Monitor current Agency guidance, program updates, and forms relevant to each transaction.
• Oversee closing process with external/internal partners from inception to post-closing resolution.
• Engage and manage external legal counsel through closing.
• Review applications, underwriting packages, and credit approvals to align with closing requirements.
• Coordinate rate lock activities and submit agency-specific commitment documentation including Fannie Mae C&D submissions.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Originations, Legal, Servicing, Asset Management and agency partners to resolve issues while balancing risk.
• Independently analyze complex information to perform real estate tax and escrow analysis for closing.
• Prepare, review, and/or reconcile lender statements and closing documentation.
• Review Title Company Settlement Statements, Receipts and Disbursement ledgers for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate loan fundings, wire approvals, closing packages, and disbursement activities.
• Verify underwriting, legal and closing conditions before rate lock, funding, and disbursement.
• Oversee delivery submissions to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for certification/purchase.
• Demonstrate experience with non-standard transactions and affordable products.
• Maintain transaction records, schedules, pipeline reports, and agency delivery tracking tools.
• Identify operational efficiencies and contribute to process improvements.
