Job summary

Discord is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Growth team. You will build user-facing experiences to help new users discover and start using Discord, and develop scalable backend systems across the stack.

You will work with frontend (TypeScript, React) and backend (Python, Flask), run A/B experiments, and partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to drive growth. The role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager for Growth.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript and React with high-performance frontend delivery.
• Practical Python experience and backend work using Flask.
• Experience designing and running A/B tests with data-driven decisions.
• Ability to own projects end-to-end across the full stack.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize user-facing experiences that improve discovery and onboarding.
• Develop scalable backend systems serving dynamic content at scale.
• Work across the full stack (frontend and backend) as needed.
• Design and run A/B experiments to measure impact on growth.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data Science on growth opportunities.
• Maintain performance and reliability for user-facing properties.
• Write readable, well-reviewed code with future engineers in mind.
