Job summary

Discord is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Growth team. You’ll shape how new users discover and get started, building frontend experiences in TypeScript/React and backend services in Python/Flask. You’ll run A/B tests, work across teams, and own projects end-to-end to drive activation and engagement.

The role emphasizes scalable systems, experimentation, and collaboration with Product, Design, and Data Science, reporting to Growth’s Senior Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript and React with a track record of delivering high-performance frontend experiences.
• Practical experience with Python and backend frameworks such as Flask.
• Experience designing and running A/B tests with a focus on data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize user-facing experiences that improve discovery and onboarding on Discord.
• Develop scalable backend systems that serve dynamic content at scale.
• Work across the full stack—frontend (TypeScript, React) and backend (Python)—as needed.
• Design and run A/B experiments to measure impact on user acquisition and activation.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to identify growth opportunities and iterate quickly.
• Maintain performance and reliability standards for user-facing properties.
• Write readable, reviewable code that supports future engineers.
