Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Senior Group Underwriter Consultant to evaluate pricing and renewal strategies, monitor underwriting workflows, and guide risk assessments for large, complex client portfolios. This role collaborates with Sales, Actuarial, Finance, and other teams to align pricing with business objectives.

A senior leader will mentor underwriting associates and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires BA/BS in a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent background.
• CPCU, CLU, LOMA, HIAA, PAHM or other insurance-related courses preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel experience with complex formulas and macros is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develops pricing and renewal strategies based on experience, demographics, plan design, market conditions, and other risk factors.
• Monitors underwriting workflow, internal controls, and adherence to policies and guidelines.
• Provides guidance on underwriting exceptions balancing risk with business objectives.
• Collaborates with Sales, Account Management, Actuarial, Finance, and other partners on pricing, sales, and renewal strategies.
• Manages a portfolio of large and complex clients with underwriting analysis and recommendations.
• Identifies opportunities to improve underwriting processes, controls, tools, and efficiency.
