Job summary

Beacon Health & Fitness in Kalamazoo, MI seeks an energetic Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe, effective classes. You will arrive early, cue movements, tailor workouts, and maintain class formats and intensity to help members improve health.

The role requires a high school diploma, CPR certification within 3 months, and certifications such as AFAA Group Exercise Instructor (and possibly ACE/ACSM/AEA/USWFA). Three years of aerobics teaching experience and strong communication are expected.

Qualifications

• Certification through AFAA as Group Exercise Instructor is required.
• Additional certification with ACE/ACSM/AEA/USWFA or similar is required to teach specific aerobics classes.
• Minimum of three years of work experience as an aerobics instructor.
• CPR certification required within the first three months of employment.
• Knowledge of exercise physiology and anatomy; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct group exercise classes.
• Arrive early and stay after classes to answer questions.
• Select safe, effective and appropriate exercises; modify as needed.
• Cue movements and music to maintain proper tempo and intensity.
• Change class routine every 4–6 weeks, unless following licensed program.
• Assist with class coverage at all Beacon Health & Fitness locations.
