Job summary

The YMCA of the USA is looking for a Group Exercise Instructor to lead dynamic, inclusive classes across formats such as cycling, yoga, HIIT, and more. You will foster a welcoming atmosphere that motivates members to pursue their wellness goals and enjoy an engaging fitness experience.

Responsibilities include arriving early to set up, ensuring safety and cleanliness, and building relationships within the YMCA community.

Qualifications

• Nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification or ability to obtain one within the timeframe established by the supervisor.
• Specialty certifications for the class formats you teach, as required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain certification before employment.
• Passion for health, wellness, and helping others succeed.
• Strong communication and motivational skills.
• Ability to lead safe, engaging, and effective group fitness classes.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging, and effective group exercise classes for participants of all fitness levels.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages members to reach their wellness goals.
• Motivate, educate, and support participants throughout each class.
• Arrive early to set up equipment and greet members before class begins.
• Build positive relationships with members and help connect them to the YMCA community.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness space.
• Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings while maintaining required certifications.
