Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Senior Ground Systems Engineer to advance space ground infrastructure and lead cross-disciplinary engineering efforts. The selected candidate will work full-time on-site at our Chantilly facility in Virginia.

You will analyze ground system requirements, define interfaces, and guide agile and DevSecOps practices while coordinating with spacecraft teams to ensure mission success and system reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or mathematics.
• 12+ years’ experience across space ground systems (integration, ground systems development, etc.).
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to interact with customers and contractors.
• Experience with requirements development, traceability, and validation methodologies.
• Experience with IV&V processes and complex system integration testing.
• Experience with ground system operations, sustainment, and integration of mission apps.
• Ability to define technical tasks and lead technical teams across boundaries.
• Experience with government acquisition strategies and source selections.
• Familiarity with space ground systems architectures and distributed space systems.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and recommend innovative ground system solutions and acquisition strategies.
• Establish Agile and DevSecOps development methods and metrics for modernization.
• Define space-to-ground and ground-to-ground integration plans and verify requirements.
• Design and develop interfaces for space ground control systems.
• Lead engineering teams and monitor deliverables and analyses.
• Develop system requirements for models, test beds, and end-to-end testing.
• Provide expert guidance to government customers on ground system challenges.
• Apply experience to influence future ground system architectures.
