Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) is hiring a Senior Planning Specialist to support regulatory requirements and design plans for its electrical distribution system. You will develop plans, estimate resources, and provide options for constructing distribution facilities while engaging with diverse customers for successful project outcomes.

You will conduct long-term grid analyses, build power flow models, and ensure reliability targets are met, working hybrid in California with occasional field

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in electrical utility design/engineering.
• Valid Class C Driver's License.
• Experience applying engineering principles and industry standards.
• Experience with wind/pole loading, GIS, or related drafting systems.
• Experience preparing work orders or project packages.
• Ability to manage multiple technical or customer projects.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and with management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Leadership or mentorship experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conducts long-term grid import planning analyses and transmission interconnection assessments.
• Develops plans, identifies resources, and provides cost estimates for distribution facilities.
• Makes decisions impacting project scope, timing, and budget.
• Performs field inspections to verify compliance with approved plans.
• Assesses distribution system capabilities and planning criteria.
• Develops power flow models and economic analyses for short- and long-term plans.
• Ensures reliability targets and analyzes outages for root causes.
• Coordinates with internal teams to ensure policy compliance and follow-through.
• Keeps up with industry practices and customer needs; supports customers and SCE on projects.
• Provides training and supports workload management.
