Job summary

RWE Supply & Trading Americas, LLC, Austin seeks a technically strong Grid Modeling Manager to develop, validate, and maintain electrical models for utility-scale wind, solar, BESS, and gas projects. You will prepare modeling packages, review consultant outputs, and coordinate with consultants and internal teams on PSS/E and other toolsets.

The role emphasizes leading ISO/RTO interconnection modeling, ensuring alignment with queue requirements, and influencing internal standards and templates

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in power systems modeling, model development, or grid compliance.
• Proficiency with PSS/E, ASPEN One-liner, and related interconnection modeling inputs.
• Experience preparing interconnection queue packages with model files and diagrams.
• Strong understanding of ISO/RTO modeling in MISO, PJM, SPP, NYISO, and SERC regions.
• Experience with utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, and gas projects including IBR behavior and EMT studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support ISO/RTO interconnection modeling package preparation.
• Coordinate with consultants for PSCAD, TSAT, benchmark studies and results review.
• Develop, maintain, validate, and document electrical models for wind, solar, BESS, and gas projects.
• Prepare plant representation, inverter sizing assumptions, impedance and transformer calculations.
• Support short-circuit and ASPEN One-liner model development or review where applicable.
• Review consultant outputs for reasonableness and alignment with ISO/RTO requirements.
• Resolve ISO/RTO modeling deficiencies and support queue-related changes.
• Track evolving grid code requirements including NERC and IEEE standards.
• Develop and improve internal modeling standards, templates, and workflows.
• Cross-train and mentor junior engineers on modeling practices and expectations.
