Circular Resourcing seeks a Grid / Interconnection Director to secure utility interconnections across the USA, focusing on ERCOT, MISO and other major markets. The role supports development strategy for renewable solar and storage portfolios and interacts with legal, finance, planning, and permitting teams.

The position involves guidance on interconnection studies, tariff compliance, and representing company interests with Utilities/ISOs/RTOs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 6–8 years of experience in renewable power system analysis or related fields.
  • Experience with industry software PSSE, ETAP, PSCAD or PowerWorld required.
  • Generation Interconnection model development at a utility or RTO is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with ISOs across the US (SERC, TVA, ERCOT, MISO, CAISO, WECC).
  • Coordinate system modeling with Grid Analysis team to identify POIs for new projects.
  • Coordinate interconnection process from filing to post-GIA phases.
  • Manage daily interconnection tasks for renewable projects under development.

Job description

European Develop with expanding portfolio in the USA recruiting for a Grid / Interconnection Director to secure connections in various locations across the country.

The majority of this portfolio spans ERCOT & MISO markets and experience within these markets are highly desirable.

The role would ideally be based in Austin, Texas on a hybrid basis however we may consider remote workers with regular travel for the right candidate.

Package: negotiable for right candidate plus bonus & benefits (401k, medical, dental)

About the role:
  • Grid / Interconnection Director is heavily involved in the company's development strategy related to its portfolio of existing and proposed utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
  • Daily interaction with project development and wider teams across legal, finance, planning and permitting etc.
  • Work alongside with Power Systems and Modeling team to provide ongoing technical engineering support for various generation interconnection (GI) studies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tariffs and represent the company's interests at various Utilities/ISOs/RTOs to shape renewable energy policy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Familiar with ISOs all throughout the US including but not limited to SERC, TVA, ERCOT, MISO, CAISO, and WECC
  • Work closely with in-house Grid Analysis team or consultant in coordinating system modeling to identify potential POI's for new greenfield projects
  • Familiar with load flow modeling software but not actually running models
  • Familiarity with load study applications and related load requirements for data centers and other large commercial loads
  • Evaluation of Interconnection study reports and coordination with Business Development, Project Dev, and Finance Team
  • Coordinate interconnection process from filing to post-GIA phases
  • Manage daily interconnection tasks for renewable projects for prospective projects and projects under development
  • Develop transmission strategy and provide expert opinion for grid transmission
  • Perform due diligence on interconnection materials to support project acquisition efforts
  • Working knowledge of ISO/Utility interconnection Tariffs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required, further education IE Msc / MBA highly desirable
  • 6-8 years of experience in renewable power system analysis or related fields.
  • Experience using industry relevant software such as PSSE, ETPA, PSCAD or PowerWorld
  • Generation Interconnection model development experience at a utility or RTO is strongly preferred.
