Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to join the Information Security governance space. You will build data pipelines, enforce policy-as-code, and design AI-driven workflows to turn governance into scalable products.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production software in backend, platform, data, or security engineering.
• Ownership of a production system with on-call and SLOs.
• Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, Java, or Go and reading unfamiliar codebases.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and agent-like features.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication flows, event-driven architectures.
• Experience pulling, normalizing, and joining data from multiple sources.
• Ability to define technical direction across teams and balance risk-based priorities.
• Attention to detail balanced with pragmatism about prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate pipelines and integrations aggregating risk, control, and asset signals across systems.
• Translate standards into policy-as-code with versioned, testable rules.
• Design agentic AI workflows combining LLM reasoning with deterministic decision layers.
• Develop evals, benchmarks, and calibration harnesses for governance automation.
• Automate evidence collection and continuous monitoring to replace manual audits.
• Define technical approach for ambiguous cross-team problems in an early-stage program.
• Collaborate with Security Governance, Compliance, and Engineering to identify automatable processes.
• Contribute to design discussions evaluating security and reliability of the platform.
• Help govern Block's AI systems and their safety and autonomy.
