Job summary
Datadog is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance the REDAPL Graph Engine, our scalable platform for relationship traversal and data processing. This role can be based in Madrid or remote, with a hybrid work style.
You will lead architectural decisions, optimize performance and scalability, and collaborate with product teams to drive platform growth across multiple teams and data stores. You will contribute to open-source-like initiatives and share knowledge across the organization.
Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with multiple data stores and distributed systems.
- Led platform or infrastructure initiatives with focus on performance and resilience.
- Production-grade experience with query engines or planning (e.g. Trino, Calcite, DataFusion).
Responsibilities
- Build a query engine for efficient relationship traversals.
- Lead high-priority projects to improve platform value, resilience, and scalability.
- Guide engineers through architectural decisions.
- Identify potential system risks and design reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with internal product teams to plan growth and integration.
