Job summary

The Salk Institute for Biological Studies is seeking a Grants & Sponsored Projects Administrator III to manage a portfolio of grant, contract and fellowship submissions and awards. This role coordinates with faculty, staff and post-award teams to ensure timely, compliant submissions and reporting.

Qualified candidates have at least 5 years in grants management, a business-related degree, and familiarity with federal funding rules and proposal systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of grants management experience in proposal development, grant financial management or related process improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of grant/contract policies and extramural funding requirements; experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
• Experience projecting salary, benefits and indirect costs; payroll regulations knowledge.
• Certification such as Certified Research Administrator is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages all aspects of a portfolio of complex grant, contract, sub-award and fellowship applications and awards.
• Prepares and submits grants, contracts, sub-award and fellowship proposals and awards; ensures post-award compliance and reporting.
• Collaborates with faculty and staff on progress reports and administrative requests.
• Works with Research Accounting on post-award financial management and with committees to steward grant funds.
• Mentors other Grants Administrators and provides guidance on proposal preparation processes.
