Job summary

Virginia Tech’s Computer Science department seeks a Grants Administrator to provide comprehensive administrative and fiscal support for sponsored program proposals in a higher education setting. You will partner with faculty and PIs to ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and policies, fostering accurate, timely funding submissions.

The role oversees research administration, expenditure compliance, salary planning, reporting, and liaises with the department as well as university systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field, or significant relevant experience.
• Experience in grants management, sponsored programs, or research administration.
• Budgeting experience and use of spreadsheets for financial tracking.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and reconciliation skills.
• Proficiency with financial systems and grants management software.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy in a deadline driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and fiscal support for the development, review, and submission of sponsored program proposals.
• Coordinate internal approvals and proposal submission through institutional and sponsor systems.
• Lead expenditure compliance, salary planning, close-outs, financial reporting, and project transfers.
• Serve as the OESRC liaison and support best practices in compliance with university guidelines.
