Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a Program Administrative Manager in the College of Engineering Office of Research and Innovation. This role provides comprehensive project management support to multiple research teams involved in large transdisciplinary grants, aiming to secure $2M+ external funding and expand initiatives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated project management experience in academic/research settings.
• Proven experience with pre-award and/or post-award grant administration.
• Experience providing administrative support to research teams.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize competing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including drafting high-quality materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop work plans for identified research teams to accomplish program goals.
• Monitor project progress across multiple teams and implement strategies to maintain momentum.
• Facilitate communication among project teams, PIs, and administrative staff to meet milestones.
• Serve as liaison between research groups and the Office of Sponsored Programs.
• Assist with proposal development and coordinate with pre-award and post-award offices to meet submission requirements.
• Create reports, presentations, summaries, and promotional materials for the PI and project team.
• Assist teams in identifying and pursuing large-scale external funding opportunities.
