Job summary

Adams State University in Alamosa, CO seeks a Senior Grant Specialist to drive external funding through research, writing, and submission of grant proposals. The role oversees proposal development, ensures compliance, and coordinates with faculty and offices to align with the university’s strategic plan.

On-site position reporting to the Provost. This exempt, full-time role emphasizes collaboration across campus to uplift student outcomes and secure competitive funding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five years or more of proven experience in successful grant writing and proposal development, including knowledge of federal grant guidelines.
• Excellent writing, editing, communication, data analysis, and organizational skills.
• High level of attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• Experience with budget development and financial reporting related to grant proposals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee research to identify funding opportunities aligned with the university’s priorities and share findings with campus constituents.
• Supervise, facilitate, write, and assist with development of compelling grant proposals and narratives.
• Oversee faculty/staff to complete non-technical aspects of proposals and incorporate technical content.
• Provide supervision to the Grant Specialist to ensure timely, high-quality proposals.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements, agency regulations, and submission guidelines.
• Submit grants as the university’s primary Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR).
• Chair the Grant Concept Review Committee and coordinate internal processes (concept proposals, budgets, etc.).
• Guide faculty, staff, and consultants in developing competitive proposals and budgets for review.
• Coordinate proposal development meetings, timelines, and deliverables, including budgets for review by the Controller of Sponsored Programs.
• Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness for data extraction and reporting for grant applications.
• Foster collaborations across departments or institutions to strengthen proposals.
