Job description

Position Title: Senior GPS Subsystems Engineer


Location: Tucson, AZ, United States


Type: Onsite


Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required. Secret-level DoD clearance, active at day one.


Responsibilities


  • Provide GPS electronics solutions for missile products, including architecture development, requirement definition, electronics design, analysis, modeling, and testing.

  • Collaborate with missile‑level system engineers to develop subsystem requirements.

  • Perform analysis and modeling to decompose requirements for GPS sub‑assemblies and component designs.

  • Architect new electronic systems and document subsystem requirements and test plans.

  • Conduct peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert.

  • Deliver presentations to peers, management, and government customers.

  • Investigate root‑cause failures of GPS subsystems.

  • Interface directly with suppliers of navigation or guidance electronics components, IMUs and GPSs to monitor programmatic activities and ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Mentor and be mentored within a culture that values cross‑functional collaboration.

  • Support multiple programs and travel as required, including foreign travel.

  • Work independently with little supervision, building a network for assistance.

  • Collaborate with functional, program, customer, and supplier leadership.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in electrical hardware development.

  • Experience in subsystems, systems engineering, requirement development, and RF electrical subsystem design and validation.

  • Proficiency in developing digital and analog RF circuitry, including antennas, circuit cards, and configurable logic.

  • Prior work on navigation subsystems/components used in modern guidance electronics platforms.

  • Experience with integrated Guidance Electronics systems using GPS and IMU navigation blended by Kalman filter techniques.

  • Knowledge or experience with M‑Code navigation.

  • Familiarity with MATLAB scripting and tools.

  • Experience with hardware integration, Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL), modeling, simulation, and environmental testing.

  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems.

  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive suppliers to meet commitments.

  • Knowledge of DoD hardware development process and design gates.

  • Hands‑on experience through all phases of the product life cycle.

  • Experience in developing proposals and knowledge of Model‑Based System Engineering (MBSE).


Preferred Qualifications


  • Detailed design and troubleshooting experience with missile radar and RF seeker subsystems.

  • Desire to grow into a guidance section architect role.

  • Demonstrated application of technical theories and concepts relevant to navigation subsystems.
