Job summary

Cape is seeking a dedicated Head of Government Relations to map federal stakeholders and forecast policy-based risks and opportunities. You will navigate complex policymaking to unlock national relationships and funding, select and manage external advisers, and steer the government strategy for Cape's growth.

The ideal candidate has at least five years in legislative affairs, federal budgeting, or related areas, reporting to Cape's Head of Federal.

Qualifications

• Operational experience in fast-paced environments with end-to-end ownership.
• Ability to network with diverse external stakeholders and maintain strong relationships.
• Clear and concise professional communication, understanding political protocol.
• Firsthand knowledge of the federal legislative process through lobbying, fellowships, or equivalent.
• Ability to set multi-year government engagement plans aligned with company goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop a long-term milestone-based government strategy.
• Map key government stakeholders to company needs.
• Forecast political, policy, budgetary, and regulatory changes and volatility.
• Shape policies beneficial to the company and its customers.
• Form and mature partnerships with third parties in the federal ecosystem.
• Coordinate with external advisers, experts, and lobbyists.
• Engage resource sponsors to achieve strategic end-states.
• Establish and manage events bridging industry and government affairs.
