Job summary

Rockdale County Government in Conyers, GA seeks a Controller to serve as a senior financial leader and potential successor to the CFO. The role oversees Finance, Procurement, and Grants Management, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the County's fiscal operations.

Responsibilities include directing staff, overseeing monthly and annual statements, implementing internal controls, budgeting support, and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible governmental finance experience, including management/supervisory responsibility.
• CPA or CGFO/CPFO certifications preferred.
• Experience in public sector budgeting, procurement, grants management, and financial systems administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Finance, Procurement, and Grants Management.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate staff; hire, train, and manage performance.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting; ensure GAAP/GASB compliance.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls and safeguard County assets.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy; analyze variances.
