Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Corporate Attorney to join its in-house Legal Department in Idaho Falls. The role is mid-level or senior, providing sophisticated counsel on government contracts, federal procurement, and real property transactions arising from INL operations as a DOE-funded national laboratory.

The position is full-time and on-site in Idaho Falls with a 9x80 schedule and every other Friday off. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction, with Idaho admission by exam or on motion.
• 5 years (mid-level) or 10+ years (senior) of government contracts or federal procurement experience.
• Familiarity with FAR, DEAR, and federal contracting principles.
• Experience with real property transactions, including drafting and negotiating leases, easements, or related instruments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal advice on the federal procurement and contracting lifecycle, including solicitation, negotiation, award, administration, and close-out of contracts and related instruments.
• Advise on prime contract compliance under INL's M&O contract with DOE, including interpretation of terms and regulatory obligations.
• Support real estate and facilities matters, including leases, easements, licenses, land use agreements, and rights-of-way.
• Counsel on compliance with laws governing contractor operations, including cost accounting standards, IP, data rights, export controls, and small business subcontracting.
• Assist with bid protests, contract claims, disputes, and requests for equitable adjustment before cognizant government agencies or boards.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements and memoranda of understanding.
• Monitor developments in federal procurement law and DOE policy, advising management on risks and opportunities.
• Support internal compliance programs, ethics initiatives, and training related to government contracting and property matters.
• Collaborate with colleagues on cross-functional matters involving environmental, employment, IP, and corporate law as needed.
