Job summary

VSolvit is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee a broad range of accounting activities for a government contracting environment. You will support monthly and year-end closes, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger tasks while ensuring GAAP and FAR compliance.

You will collaborate with the Chief of Accounting and Taxes, program management, contracts, payroll, and other finance teams to maintain accurate records and provide analysis for management decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field; accounting degree strongly preferred.
• 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and ability to apply GAAP to transactions.
• Experience with general ledger and financial statement reporting.
• Experience preparing and reviewing account reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate unusual transactions.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules per GAAP.
• Assist with preparation of financial reporting packages for management.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with year-end close and external audits and tax return preparation.
