Job summary

Isle of Wight County is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform advanced governmental accounting functions including budget administration, internal auditing, debt management, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities include monitoring budgets, producing financial reports, ensuring GAAP/GASB compliance, and liaising with internal and external agencies as needed. Requires accounting degree and several years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; 3 years of related experience or an accounting concentration.
• Or an Associate's degree with 5 years of related work experience; 24 hours accounting coursework minimum.
• VGFOA certification may substitute for degree/experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage current-year budgets by fund, department, division, and cost center.
• Prepare financial reports for internal and external reporting.
• Ensure GAAP and GASB compliance and adhere to state/local regulations.
