Isle of Wight County, VA is seeking an Accountant to perform governmental accounting functions, including internal auditing, account reconciliations and financial reporting and analysis.

The role collaborates with auditors and staff, assists in preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, ensures GAAP/GASB compliance, maintains general ledger, and supports budget preparation and financial process improvements.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• 1 year of related work experience.
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

• Evaluates and provides recommendations as it pertains to the improvement of internal operational efficiencies, increased productivity or financial policies or procedures to include preparing drafts of new or revised policies and procedures;
• Monitors general ledger account activity to ensure transactions are recorded properly in the financial system;
• Prepares spreadsheets and other necessary documents;
• Serves as staff liaison on fiscal matters between the County and external agencies as needed;
• Assists with preparing annual budget;
• Advises County departments on financial processes as needed;

• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to an employee’s work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires the use of fingers, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• One (1) years of related work experience;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Driver's License valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
