Job summary

Desert Mountain Club is seeking a Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to lead maintenance and operations of the golf courses at a premier private club in North Scottsdale, AZ. You will supervise the maintenance team, manage equipment and irrigation systems, and ensure turf quality meets championship standards.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in leadership of golf maintenance, 4+ years on golf courses, and holds a turf certificate with AZ pesticide certification.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of golf maintenance leadership experience.
• 4 years of well-rounded golf course experience.
• Two-year turf certificate in turf grass management.
• Arizona pesticide applicator certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule maintenance of golf courses’ equipment and team members to optimum efficiency.
• Supervise the progress of the Assistant Superintendents and maintenance of all mechanical equipment.
• Supervise the operation of an equipment repair shop.
• Design, plan, and instruct equipment operators in mowing and other equipment care.
• Supervise irrigation and drainage system maintenance and operation.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, including chemical and fertilizer applications.
• Budget, plan, and direct maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Assist in irrigation, lake transfer, and system programs.
• Supervise planting, fertilization, and maintenance of turf.
• Assist in planning, budgeting, and supervising minor construction projects.
• Maintain tees, fairways, greens, and related features to high standards.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for golf courses.
• Plan and supervise mowing, watering, and utilization of staff and equipment.
• Order supplies within budget and provide cost estimates for budgets.
• Prepare reports and annual budget estimates.
• Attend seminars and stay current with industry standards.
• Maintain strong team relations and conduct performance reviews.
• Participate in procurement, hiring, and disciplinary actions under guidelines.
• Uphold policies and standards; perform other duties as assigned.
