Job summary

The St. Joe Company seeks a Head Mechanic for The Third Golf Course in Panama City Beach, FL. You will oversee preventative maintenance for golf course equipment, record parts and labor, and order supplies to keep operations running smoothly.

You will diagnose and repair diesel, electric, and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, and electrical components, while leading a maintenance team and ensuring safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Sufficient education and literacy to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English preferred.
• Knowledge of computers and ability to process work tickets.
• Mechanical or technical experience in building maintenance is heavily preferred.
• Customer service experience is required; all technicians must be able and willing to interact with guests.
• 3-5 years of mechanical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of golf course equipment to ensure safe operations.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in diesel, electric, and gasoline powered equipment.
• Diagnose and repair engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, steering, fuel, starters, and electrical components
• Disassemble, overhaul, and rebuild engines and motors; perform welding as required
• Sharpen mower blades and adjust reels to standards
• Perform emergency repairs to support course operations
• Maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime
• Prioritize repairs in coordination with course needs
• Maintain records of equipment, repairs, parts, and costs
• Purchase parts and maintain inventory levels
• Maintain a clean and safe maintenance facility
• Assist with building repair under maintenance areas
• Spot-check equipment in the field and oversee servicing as needed
• Work within budgets and assist cost control measures
• Assist the Superintendent as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
