Job summary

Procore is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Austin to own a mission-critical document-rendering microservice written in Go with a Postgres backend. You will morph a Rails monolith into a modular, scalable system and set patterns the team follows to deliver reliable results at scale.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, system performance, and measurable business impact, reporting to a Software Engineering Manager in a 2 days/week hybrid role in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of professional experience in Go, Ruby on Rails, and Postgres.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and SOA.
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and observability.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; Ruby on Rails experience is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and build a scalable, high‑performance microservice for document rendering using Golang and Postgres.
• Evolve a monolithic Rails application into a modular system with clear domain boundaries and a coherent public interface.
• Define domain boundaries, architectural patterns, and standards to improve reliability and development velocity.
• Drive system-level improvements in performance, resilience, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Establish engineering best practices including testing strategies (TDD), code reviews, instrumentation, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and lead root cause analysis for complex issues to implement long-term solutions.
• Mentor peers to maintain code quality and enable autonomous delivery by the team.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and DevOps for deployment standards, CI/CD, monitoring, and reliability automation.
