Job summary

Xsolla Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs. You will join a product engineering team delivering reliable, secure systems used by millions of users, with a strong emphasis on design decisions, testing, and production ownership.

The role requires deep Go expertise, experience with distributed systems, and a proactive approach to mentoring teammates, with remote-work options for a global team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial backend development experience.
• Strong Go: idiomatic code, concurrency patterns, performance profiling.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL): schema design, indexing, query optimization, migrations.
• Experience with Redis or similar caching solutions.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs (gRPC is a plus) and documenting them with OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems trade-offs (consistency, availability, failure modes).
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or similar) and event-driven design.
• Experience with Docker and a good understanding of Kubernetes basics.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Solid experience with automated testing (unit, integration).
• Understanding of application security fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, secure handling of secrets and user data, authentication and authorization basics).
• Good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions; write and review technical design documents.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage.
• Optimize database schemas and queries; ensure performance and reliability under load.
• Build event-driven and asynchronous workflows using message brokers.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production systems; take part in incident response and post-mortems.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and engineering best practices.
• Perform code reviews and mentor Middle and Junior engineers.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Frontend, QA, and DevOps to deliver features end to end.
• Maintain clear API and technical documentation.
