Job summary

Xsolla Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs. You will join a product engineering team delivering reliable, secure systems used by millions of users, with a strong emphasis on design decisions, testing, and production ownership.

The role requires deep Go expertise, experience with distributed systems, and a proactive approach to mentoring teammates, with remote-work options for a global team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial backend development experience.
• Strong Go: idiomatic code, concurrency patterns, performance profiling.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL): schema design, indexing, query optimization, migrations.
• Experience with Redis or similar caching solutions.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs (gRPC is a plus) and documenting them with OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems trade-offs (consistency, availability, failure modes).
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or similar) and event-driven design.
• Experience with Docker and a good understanding of Kubernetes basics.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Solid experience with automated testing (unit, integration).
• Understanding of application security fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, secure handling of secrets and user data, authentication and authorization basics).
• Good written and spoken English.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is passionate about building reliable, scalable, and secure backend systems to join one of our product engineering teams. ABOUT THE TEAM

You will join a product engineering team of backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps engineers working closely with Product and Design. The team owns its services end to end: from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and on-call support.

• Practical, up-to-date experience with modern AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot, Cursor) for code generation, review, and accelerating day-to-day engineering work
