Job summary

Greywright Inc. is seeking a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and fielding of advanced GNC algorithms for unmanned maritime platforms.

You will own architecture and drive embedded software development, modeling, testing, and cross‑functional collaboration with hardware and software teams. You will build and lead the GNC team, mentor engineers, and guide the roadmap for evolving baseline GNC capabilities while ensuring robust performance

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of GNC experience including leadership and team-building.
• Strong background in classical/modern/nonlinear control, rigid-body dynamics, and estimation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and tune guidance and control laws for high‑speed crafts across full speed envelopes.
• Extend and maintain high‑fidelity 6‑DOF simulations and models of dynamics, sensors, actuators, and sea states.
• Develop, update, and maintain navigation filters (Kalman/EKF/UKF) fusing IMU, GNSS, odometry, and other data.
• Design validation, outlier rejection, fault detection to keep navigation robust.
• Derive GNC requirements, error budgets, and stability margins; run Monte‑Carlo analyses.
• Build models with system identification and on‑water data; refine controller tuning.
• Implement GNC algorithms in embedded software (C/C++) and support code generation.
• Plan software‑in‑the‑loop and hardware‑in‑the‑loop tests; analyze test data.
• Support sensor/actuator selection, calibration, and integration with hardware teams.
• Build and lead the GNC team: recruit, set standards, own roadmap, mentor, present in reviews.
