Job summary

Katalyst Space in Colorado is seeking a Senior GNC Engineer to architect and implement guidance, navigation, and control solutions for advanced robotic space vehicles. You will collaborate across hardware, software, and mission operations to deliver flight-ready autonomy.

The role requires 3+ years in GNC, Python development, multi-body dynamics, and experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing; equity, comprehensive benefits, and a fast-paced startup environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in guidance, navigation, and control.
• Software development experience in Python.
• Experience developing, debugging, and deploying GNC sensors, effectors and algorithms.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup atmosphere.
• Proven ability to lead a project from conception to completion.
• Experience with cradle-to-grave spacecraft design and in-orbit operations.
• Expertise in either guidance, navigation or control and in multi-body astrodynamics.
• Experience with Git, Linux and Basilisk.
• Software development experience in C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Architect solutions for space mission objectives with emphasis on autonomy (hardware and software).
• Evaluate techniques like ML methods, physics-informed solutions, stochastic methods, Kalman Filters.
• Engage with DoD, partners, and government agencies for feasibility and proposals.
• Lead architecture studies and GNC team from concept to flight for RPOD missions.
• Design algorithms and simulations for orbit determination and state estimation.
• Analyze datasets for training and algorithm validation.
• Build and test modeling tools for orbital dynamics and sensor modeling.
• Six degree of freedom modeling, simulation and validation of spacecraft dynamics.
