Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced GN&C/Guidance, Navigation and Control engineer to design guidance algorithms and flight control laws for orbital maneuvers and RPOD operations. You will prototype algorithms, run trade studies, and integrate software across 6-DOF simulations using Rust, C/C++, and Python.

The role emphasizes collaboration with propulsion, structures, and systems teams, plus rigorous performance analyses and reviews.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Engineering or Physics with 12+ years experience or MS with 10+ years experience
• Deep knowledge of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, attitude kinematics and dynamics
• Demonstrated SME in spacecraft guidance, maneuver planning, targeting, and optimization
• GN&C algorithm development for flight and attitude control using classical and modern methods
• Knowledgeable in frequency domain analysis techniques
• Robust understanding of controller stability derivatives and margins
• Hands-on development with C/C++
• Experience with Gitlab, Confluence, and JIRA
• Strong written and verbal communication; teamwork and safety culture

Responsibilities

• Derive spacecraft guidance designs from mission trajectory designs
• Coordinate performance requirements between GN&C and mission planning
• Develop and maintain both established and bespoke guidance algorithms for orbital maneuvers (RPOD) in Earth and cis-lunar orbits
• Develop and sustain flight control algorithms for spacecraft
• Perform trade studies for maneuver targeting sequences and contingency maneuvers
• Collaborate with subsystems to ensure system-level design closure
• Develop and maintain flight software and simulations
• Integrate and test software in SIL and HIL environments
• Implement controls algorithms and subsystem models in a 6-DOF simulation using Rust, C/C++, Python
• Develop toolsets for automated requirements, configuration, and performance analyses
• Support reviews with data products and reports
