Job summary

Fort Myer Construction Corporation seeks a General Manager for the Asphalt Paving Division to lead DC, VA, and MD projects. This hands-on executive role oversees crews, production, safety, procurement, and division P&L across multiple sites with travel as required.

You will manage equipment, materials, and schedules, ensure compliance with DDOT/VDOT/MDSHA specs, and mentor Superintendents and Foremen. Night/early-morning/weekend work is common in this market.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in asphalt milling and paving.
• Minimum 5 years managing multiple asphalt crews on large projects.
• Proven knowledge of asphalt paving equipment and specifications (DDOT, VDOT, MDSHA).
• Experience managing division budgets, labor costs, and P&L.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Valid driver’s license; background check and drug/alcohol screening required.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple asphalt paving crews via Superintendents and Foremen across DC, VA, and MD.
• Oversee all paving operations: milling, laydown, compaction, quality control per specs.
• Manage production schedules, material delivery, trucking logistics, and plant coordination.
• Own division P&L; monitor costs and analyze job costing data to drive profitability.
• Recruit, develop, and lead Superintendents, Foremen, and crews.
• Work hours vary: night paving, early mornings, and weekends.
