Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Huntington Beach, CA, is seeking a Senior International Trade Compliance Officer to lead the company’s global trade compliance program and serve as the SME on export controls. You will drive licensing, training, investigations, and program improvements across the organization.

The role requires deep regulatory knowledge, hands-on licensing experience, and the ability to work cross‑functionally to integrate compliance into business processes.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of progressive experience in international trade compliance, export controls, or regulatory affairs in defense, aerospace, or space.
• Hands-on experience with export licensing, jurisdiction requests, and compliance with ITAR and related regulations.
• Experience contributing to or managing a corporate trade compliance program.

Responsibilities

• Manages day‑to‑day operations of the international trade compliance program, including policies, procedures, internal controls, and compliance records.
• Develops and maintains Technology Control Plans and facility‑level compliance documentation.
• Prepares, submits, and manages export licenses, agreements, and regulatory filings with government agencies.
• Conducts export jurisdiction and classification determinations for products, data, and services.
• Screens international transactions and partners, performs risk‑based due diligence, and evaluates compliance for proposed activities.
• Delivers and tracks trade compliance training and communicates regulatory guidance to teams.
• Leads internal investigations of potential violations and supports audits.
• Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to integrate compliance into business processes and proposals.
• Supports due diligence for M&A, FOCI matters, and CFIUS reviews.
