Job summary

GlobalFoundries Inc. seeks a Lead Global Trade Compliance Specialist to manage import/export operations from Malta, NY, and drive regulatory risk management across the business.

As a SME for customs, export controls, sanctions, and FTZ processes, you will design, audit, and optimize programs, advise on duty and origin issues, and collaborate with logistics, procurement, and legal teams to ensure compliant global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, international business, logistics, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Advanced working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, customs operations, internal controls, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, coordinate cross-functional work, influence without direct authority, and guide business partners or less-experienced colleagues.
• Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and drive complex issues to timely resolution.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
• Proficiency with trade compliance, customs, ERP, and data-analysis tools; ability to learn and apply new systems quickly

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day import compliance execution and provide timely, practical guidance to business teams, logistics, customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and service providers.
• Conduct routine, risk-based audits of customs broker entries to verify tariff classification and other factors; investigate discrepancies and drive corrective action.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve import compliance procedures, records, controls, and operating practices across applicable sites.
• Lead and oversee Foreign-Trade Zone feasibility, admissions, withdrawals, inventory controls, and audits.
• Advise on customs valuation, tariff classification, country of origin, duty impact, and exemptions; support lawful duty-mitigation opportunities.
• Lead or support the company’s CTPAT program, including risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Prepare, review, or coordinate responses to CBP or regulatory authorities; translate trade requirements for internal stakeholders.
• Provide export-operations support, shipment review, documentation, issue resolution, and escalation of concerns.
• Use data and metrics to identify risk, improve controls, and measure program effectiveness.
• Lead cross-functional trade compliance projects and contribute to process enhancements.
• Design and deliver training and practical guidance for business partners on import/export requirements.
