Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced litigator to join the Global General Counsel’s Office in the United States. The role involves defending EY in claims including malpractice, contracts, and securities actions, managing mediations, arbitrations, subpoenas, and regulatory inquiries.

You will lead defense strategies, coordinate with outside counsel, and advise on professional responsibility, risk management, and discovery.

Qualifications

• Autonomy to make nuanced litigation decisions across civil, criminal, and regulatory matters.
• Significant litigation experience including trial work.
• Strong analytical ability to synthesize facts and law.
• Active license to practice law where EY office is located.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with all EY levels.
• Proven ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage outside counsel effectively.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college; top of class preferred.
• Law degree from a top law school; top of class preferred.
• 6+ years of attorney experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal dept.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of litigation, enforcement matters, investigations, and internal inquiries.
• Advise on cross-border matters with potential financial or reputational impact to EY.
• Consult with partners to avoid civil, criminal, or regulatory exposure.
• Coordinate responses to regulatory subpoenas and preservation notices.
• Advise on professional responsibility, conflicts of interest, document retention, and disclosures.
• Formulate defense strategies and advise on litigation with stakeholders.
• Manage outside counsel spend and resources.
• Conduct interviews with expert witnesses and personnel for litigation.
• Participate in mediations and settlements to resolve disputes cost-effectively.
• Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, and discovery requests.
• Prepare witnesses for testimony and assist in trial readiness.
• Develop EY policy positions on legal issues.
