Job summary

Discord seeks a Senior Manager to lead global indirect tax strategy and advisory across products, monetization, and markets. You will shape tax positions, coordinate with Product, Legal, Finance, Accounting, and Engineering, and guide enterprise-wide initiatives from strategy through execution.

You will manage complex issues like taxability, VAT/GST, and evolving digital models, and drive performance by partnering with Tax Ops and external advisors. Relocation to SF Bay Area may be available.

Qualifications

• 10+ years global indirect tax experience (Big 4/law firm + in-house).
• Deep knowledge of US sales/use tax; working knowledge of VAT/GST.
• Ability to own complex issues from start to finish with clear outputs.
• Excellent written/verbal communication; ability to explain tax to non-tax stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own technical areas of global indirect tax; lead research on taxability, sourcing, and models.
• Lead indirect tax strategy for new products, monetization, and market entries; partner with product/legal/finance.
• Monitor global regulatory changes; translate into actionable recommendations.
• Analyze tax implications of intercompany transactions, new entities, and acquisitions.
• Partner with Tax Operations to document positions and ensure tax system alignment.
• Lead audits/controversy; manage external advisors and communications.
• Identify planning and risk-reduction opportunities; manage registrations/deregistrations.
• Prepare clear materials for senior leadership with options and risk.
