Job summary

Motive is seeking a Senior Counsel, Employment to provide practical, strategic legal guidance across the employee lifecycle for a distributed, multi-jurisdictional workforce.

Reporting to the AGC, Corporate, this role will advise People, managers, business leaders, and executives on employment matters, manage legal risk, and help build scalable employment policies and processes in a fast‑growing technology company.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of employment-law experience in a law firm and in-house
• Strong knowledge of employment law and workplaces issues
• Ability to translate complex requirements into clear guidance
• Experience supporting distributed or multi-jurisdictional workforces across US states and international jurisdictions

Responsibilities

• Advise on hiring, performance, employee relations, leaves, investigations, discipline, compensation, classifications, covenants, and separations
• Draft and update employment-related agreements and policies with annual review cycle
• Partner with People, Recruiting, and business stakeholders on lawful workforce approaches
• Manage employment-related claims, audits, investigations, and litigation with internal/external counsel
• Monitor developments and update policies/trainings accordingly
• Support workforce programs and cross-functional legal projects
• Oversee outside counsel and ensure efficient matter handling
