S&P Global is seeking a Principal Commodity Analyst, Global Crops to join the Short-Term Crops team within Commodity Insights. You will help forecast global agricultural markets, support supply‑demand analysis, and produce client‑facing research that informs strateg y and risk decisions.

The role offers exposure to multiple commodities, cross‑regional collaboration, and a clear path to ownership of a market area while developing innovative analytical methodologies.

Qualifications

• Experience in agricultural commodities research, feed markets, trading, or analytics.
• Experience developing supply‑and‑demand analysis, trade flows, and commodity price information.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with large datasets and forecasting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Curious, analytical mindset with root‑cause analysis.
• Clear communicator capable of presenting to various audiences and Q&A.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast‑moving market environments.
• Strong ownership mindset and openness to feedback.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of global supply and demand balance sheets across major agricultural commodities.
• Conduct fundamental market research, identify trends, and translate into actionable insights.
• Contribute to market forecasts, balance sheets, and written analysis on supply, demand, and prices.
• Support production of market intelligence through reports, presentations, webinars, and special projects.
• Engage with clients through briefings, ad‑hoc analysis, and inquiries.
• Monitor crop production, weather, policy, biofuels, macroeconomics, and related factors.
• Collaborate with analysts across crops, vegetable oils, and regions for integrated perspectives.
• Develop and maintain analytical models, databases, and forecasting tools.
• Build expertise across multiple commodities and regions to own a market over time.
