General Motors is seeking a Senior Global Commodity Manager to lead the global strategy for critical commodities, driving cost competitiveness, supply resilience, and innovation across a multi-tier network. You will shape mobility and electrification strategies and build strategic supplier partnerships.

Responsibilities include directing purchasing activities, leading a global team, and collaborating with Engineering, Logistics, Legal, and Finance to reduce costs and ensure compliant procurement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years of global purchasing or procurement experience.
• Proven track record of directly leading teams (4–5+ people).
• Demonstrated negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills.
• Strategic orientation with ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results.
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead cross-functional teams and mentor others.

The Senior Global Commodity Manager will lead the global strategy for critical commodities, driving cost competitiveness, supply resilience, and innovation across a dynamic, multi-tier network. TheSenior Global CommodityManageris responsible forconducting purchasing activities to support sourcing,contractand supplier management activities in line with departmental strategy andobjectives. As a leader,you willprovide technical guidance to the team for successful execution ofcommodity strategiesfor ourindirect or directcommoditiesas well asleadthe development of new products, processes, standards, or operational plans.You willalsobe responsible forleading a team, fostering employee development and training, driving performance management, andmaintainingan efficient organizational structure.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Planandcommodity strategy




• Lead business plan/tactics to reach overall global targets on a day-to-day basis




• Lead global teams in allregionsin developing commodity strategies and sourcing recommendations for specified commodity, considering regional specifics this also includes early Supplier Engagement and Strategic Sourcing




• Oversee,monitorand coach employees indifferent locationsand build effective global team




• Collaborate with Engineering,Logistics, Supply Chain,Manufacturing, Legal,CorporateDevelopmentand other internal partners to develop procurement strategies, clarify prerequisites and to drive cost reduction




• Analyze and applyappropriate tools,i.e.cost models, benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.




• Responsible for managing the overall procurement activities, development of sourcing strategy, negotiation of contracts and execution of budgetfromcradle to grave




• Develop and execute capacity assessment of components to match GM demand with supplier capacity, with a focus on compliance requirements (FTAs, IRA, as applicable)




• Provide technicaland business processguidance to the team for successful execution of programs




• Lead on the development of new products, processes, standards, or operational plans.




• Support for the organization's business strategies with a direct impact on business and function overall results.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s Degree




• 10+ years of experience in global purchasing or procurement




• Proventrack recordofdirectlyleadingteamswith a minimum of 4-5 people,drivingresults, and personalaccountabilitywithoneself andteam




• Demonstrated Negotiation,SupplierManagement, Team Orientation, Informative Communication and Analytical Thinking Skills




• Strategic Orientation,willingness to learn, adapt & be agile, comfort in challenging norms,dealing with ambiguity




• Strong interpersonal skills withdemonstratedability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams as well as mentor, motivate and elicit work output from peers and other team members




• Ability to travel10-20% of the time Domestically + Internationally
